getting it right

One of the hardest parts of any piece of writing is knowing when it’s ready. Since my second placing in the CYA Conference competition for Phoenix 18 months ago, I have fiddled, added, deleted and spent hours searching for the perfect word to polish my manuscript.

At some stage though, I knew I had to let it go. Luck was on my side when I was referred to the most brilliant editor who specialises in the age group I am writing for.  Within days, paragraphs which made sense in my head were questioned for their lack of clarity and connection to the scene.

The challenge of reworking the novel has injected fresh excitement into my project and I relish the opportunity to bring it to commercial standard. The editing is still taking place, but with dedication and commitment I will soon have a novel that won’t just shine, it will sparkle!
